The Porsche 918 Spyder followed the legendary Carrera GT, debuting as a design study at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with production slated for 2013. Entering a competitive market with Ferrari and McLaren, these three automotive giants each launched hybrid-electric hypercars that set new standards for the 21st century. In 2013, the Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1 redefined performance by incorporating efficiency and sustainability, each offering a unique approach to hybrid technology and leaving a lasting impact on high-performance vehicles that continues to inspire today's models.
Even today, the specs of the 918 Spyder remain impressive. Its mid-engine 4.6-liter, dry-sump V8 and two electric motors—one powering the front and another the rear wheels—combine to deliver 887 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 944 lb-ft of torque in seventh gear, channeled through a rapid-shifting seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. In E-Power mode, the 918 can travel 12 miles on electric power alone, reaching a top speed of 93 mph and achieving zero to 60 mph in seven seconds. When fully unleashed in Hot Lap mode, the car sprints to 60 mph in under three seconds, with a top speed of 211 mph.
Naturally, Porsche tested the 918 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a record-breaking lap time of 6 minutes 57 seconds. Behind the scenes, development was equally intense, with thousands of hours of testing for the 24 prototype models worldwide and an intricate 120-hour assembly process per vehicle—much longer than the typical two-day assembly for a contemporary 911.
One of only two Porsche 918s finished in Paint to Sample Oryx White Metallic and the only Oryx White example specified with a Mocha Brown leather interior, this 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder was finished in April of that year and delivered to Stevenson Imports (now Porsche Littleton) in Denver, Colorado. Porsche have always ensured that high performance and luxury go hand-in-hand and the 918 Spyder is no different. The well-equipped interior features Burmester High-End Surround Sound Audio System, automatic air conditioning, HomeLink System, Navigation, and even a cup holder! Perhaps, most importantly, it features the optional weight-saving Weissach Package that, for $84,000 additional, helped shed 90 pounds through the use of titanium bolts, lighter brakes, and carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements, reducing the total weight to 3,616 pounds. Furthermore, through Porsche's Exclusive Manufaktur program (CXX) it received its exterior and interior finishes as well as carbon fiber floor mats with silver piping. In addition, the original owner also opted for the rarely seen, extra cost Porsche Photobook documenting the build of this special 918 Spyder. Bound in Mocha Brown interior leather, the high-quality piece follows limitation number 732 from its carbon tub to the workshops of Exclusive Manufaktur as the ultimate keepsake only available to order at the time of production.
Offered with just 167 miles at the time of cataloging, this 918 Spyder Weissach is offered in “showroom new” cosmetic condition. Perfectly bridging the gap between usability and the ultimate modern Porsche collectible, it features regular servicing at Stevenson Porsche until 2021 and retains its manuals, center lock tool, and charging equipment in addition to a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Most recently, this 918 Spyder visited Graham Rahal Performance and was the recipient of an inspection, Major Service, and detail in May 2023 with just 98 miles.
As one of the original “holy trinity” hypercars, the highly-collectible 918 Spyder arguably delivered the most accomplished and versatile of the ultra-exclusive trio. It is a technical tour de force-especially in Weissach Package trim, equally as capable of 30 mph all-electric urban travel as it was of 200 mile per hour Hot Lap track performance, it also represented a car of superior ergonomics, remarkable everyday practicality, and Porsche's expected build quality. For these reasons, and myriad others, no serious Porsche or contemporary hypercar collection should be without, especially when a well-ordered and low-mile example like this becomes available.
