The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was produced between 2004 and 2010. Designed to replace the 456, it was slightly larger, true 2+2 able to accommodate a full size adult in the rear seats. The design, especially the large side scallops and the headlights, pays homage to the 375 MM built in 1954 that director Roberto Rossellini had commissioned for his wife, Ingrid Bergman. Notably, that 375 MM happens to be the only Post-War car to win the illustrious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The 612 was the first Ferrari 12-cylinder car to be built entirely from aluminum. It is no surprise the car was named after Sergio Scaglietti, a Modenese coachbuilder who worked closely with Enzo Ferrari to create the bodies of some of the most glorious racing and road cars of Ferrari's history. The chassis and structural components were developed in collaboration with Alcoa, the well-known Pittsburgh aluminum producer. The use of aluminum throughout the chassis and body significantly cut the car's weight and improved handling ensuring optimal handling and performance.

As part of a mid-cycle refresh, in early 2008, at the Geneva International Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled the One-To-One (OTO) personalization program and thereafter the 612 was only available through this special order process. Our 612 is an OTO, the pinnacle of the 612 series. The program would serve as the precursor to today's “Tailor Made” program where purchasers of the model could work directly with Ferrari to have it built to their exacting specifications. Furthermore, OTO cars were not able to be ordered for dealer inventory as a dealership had to present a customer and corresponding order (and deposit) to the factory for production.

Beyond custom interiors and specifications, the OTO cars brought a handful of improvements and introduced many features now considered standard on Ferrari's of today. OTO identifiers include a faster shifting 599 based clutch and transmission, a full length electrochromatic glass roof, standard carbon ceramic brakes (CCB), BOSE audio system, slightly different display on the dash, cruise control (optional), BOSE Media system, 20 inch Challenge wheels, and the now famous manettino switch. Found on the steering wheel the manettino allows drivers to select a series of chassis modes from comfort to performance or sport.

Car 5525 is believed to be one of only a handful of OTO models imported to the US in the final year of production. According to the spec sheet options are yellow brake calipers, iPod connection, “Scuderia Ferrari” shields, diamond pattern seats, front and rear parking sensors, 20 inch Challenge wheels, and colored stitching. Benefitting from a recent full service by Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, Connecticut in May 2022 at a cost of an astonishing $73,970.60. The comprehensive service encompassed the standard major service items of timing & cam belts and new tires. Additionally, the transmission and clutch were removed and all clutch driveline components were replaced.
